Thorgether

(NL) Voor veel van de personen die van en naar de T2-campus in Genk (BE) reizen ligt de vervoerskeuze vast: eens met de auto, altijd met de auto. Het ‘Thorgether’ project – dat een samenwerking is met de T2-campus en Stad Genk- stimuleert autogebruikers om samen te rijden door carpooling zichtbaar(der) te maken en mogelijke carpoolers samen te brengen. Het parkeerconcept bestaat uit een slimme parkeerplaatsen die uitgerust is met LED-verlichting, een ANPR-camera en een app. Het systeem registreert gebruikers om vervolgens nummerplaten en uurroosters te ‘matchen’. De functionele aanpak en bijhorende incentives (namelijk, de auto’s met de meeste carpoolers, krijgen de beste parkeerplaatsen toegewezen) motiveren autogebruikers om het systeem te gebruiken.

(EN) For many people traveling to and from the T2-campus in Genk (BE), the choice of transport is fixed: once by car, always by car. The ‘Thorgether’ project – which is a collaboration with the T2-campus and the City of Genk – stimulate car users to drive together by making carpooling (more) visible and bringing together potential carpoolers. The parking concept consists of smart parking spaces equipped with LED-lighting, an ANPR camera and an app. The system registers users to ‘match’ license plates and schedules. The functional approach and accompanying incentives (namely, the cars with the most carpoolers, are assigned the best parking spaces) motivate car users to use the system.
